V-Guard Corporate Social Responsibility Project Implemented by WELFARE SERVICES ERNAKULAM

The project proposes to improve quality of life of the children with intellectual impairment through quality education, therapeutic support and vocational skill training. It will integrate concepts of physical, social and occupational rehabilitation of the target groups for achieving sustainable results. It helps to enhance quality of life of intellectually challenged children by providing quality school education, therapeutic support and vocational training. We have started the project first in 5 schools of Ernakulam and Thrissur districts. We extended the activities in the next year to Palakkad, Malappuram and Alapuzha districts. Totally we are doing the project works in 10 schools. Here is the report of different activities which we have done with this time.

Occupational and Physiotherapy equipments and therapy service

We have purchased occupational therapy equipments for Rs. 2, 12,220 and develop a room for occupational therapy services. We have appointed an occupational therapist from 2019 June onwards. We are paying an amount of Rs. 9000 as the monthly salary of the therapist. They are providing full time service in the school. 25 above students are getting the benefit of this service regularly.We have given some equipments of Rs. 75000 for the better service of physiotherapy unit.

They have a carry bag printing unit in the school. We have provided a screen printing facility to get a good market for the bags. We have purchased some screen printing equipments of Rs. 10000 for the school.In order to ensure the better running of carry bag unit we have purchased 3 tailoring machines to the school. It helps the students to study and stitch carry bag for their unit. Tailoring machines costs Rs. 10000.

Farming of Organic Vegetables

School has totally 4 acres of land. We have started organic vegetable cultivation in the land. We have appointed two workers in the land to conduct the agricultural activities. Students will help them in watering, cleaning, and some other works in the land. We have spent Rs. for agricultural activities.

Occupational and Physiotherapy equipments and therapy service

School is providing physiotherapy and occupational therapy in the school. But they are not able to provide the services regularly because of the high remuneration of the therapists. They were giving services two days in a week. We have provided remuneration support for balance three days. So students are getting regular therapy services. We are paying Rs. 15000 per month to the school.

Speech Therapy

Like Physio and occupational therapy we are providing remuneration support in speech therapy too. We are paying an amount of Rs. 12000 per month for speech therapy services.

Computer training

They have a computer lab in the school. One regular computer instructor is there in the school and giving training to the students. 25 students are studying data entry works. But they need more attention and training to earn more work from different companies and income. So we are paying the remuneration of computer instructor as Rs. 20000 per month.

Physiotherapy and Speech therapy

They are not providing any therapy services in the school. Some therapy equipments are there but they can’t provide service because of the high remuneration of the therapists. We have appointed physio and speech therapist in the school. They provide therapy services 3 days in week. We are giving Rs. 1000 on daily basis.

Vocational trainer

We have appointed a vocational trainer in the school. They are giving training for candle making, flower making etc. students were not getting any training in the school. We are providing training in 3 days in a week.

Raw materials for vocational training

We have supported to purchase the raw materials for vocational training. We provided the items for candle making, flower making and mat making.

Physiotherapy and Speech therapy

They have a Physiotherapy unit in their school to improve the physical skills of the students. Physiotherapy services are giving to the children twice in a week. Speech therapy was not avail in the school. We are supporting them with the remuneration of physio and speech therapist. It helps them to render full time services to the children.

Speech therapy equipments

We have given some speech therapy equipments to the school which costs Rs. 34400.

Khadhi thread weaving

We have started a khadhi thread weaving unit in the school with the support of khadhi board irinjalakkuda. We have purchased 5 machines and set up an infrastructure for this unit. This costs Rs. 1 lakh. Khadhi board will supply the raw materials and students make it as thread. 5 students are working in this unit. Khadhi board accepts these students and gives all the allowances and salary for their work. Students are working here with the support of their parents.

Poultry farming

We have started a poultry farm in the school. It includes hen and kada. We supported them to make an infrastructure and purchase hen and kada. We have spent Rs. 2 lakh for this farm.

Paper cover unit

There was a paper cover unit in the school. We supported them with a machinery to make their activities better. We purchased machinery for Rs. 1 lakh. Students are making paper covers and getting an income from that activity.

Occupational therapy and speech therapy

Since this is a school for autistic students. They need more occupational therapy in sensory room to reduce their sensory issues than any other therapy. The school already has sessions like speech therapy, Special education (Pre academics, Academics, Prevocational and Vocational) and behavioral therapy to the students. We have appointed an occupational and speech therapist to provide a full time service to the students. We are giving Rs. 15000 per month as salary to them.

Sensorial Room

We have constructed a sensorial room in the school. It was very necessary for the autistic students. We have spent Rs. 4 lakhs for the construction.

Stitching unit

We have started a new stitching unit in the school. We purchased 6 new motor tailoring machines to the unit. New vocational trainer is appointed. Tailoring machine costs Rs. 60000 and we are paying the remuneration of trainer Rs, 10000 per month.

Ramp facility to upstairs

We have started a new ramp construction in the school. We are planning to start a new physiotherapy unit in the school next year. Ramp facility will help the students to move easily to the physiotherapy unit. Ramp construction costs Rs. 4 lakhs.

Remuneration support for Physio and Speech therapy

Medicine cover unit

We have started a medicine cover unit in the school. We purchased a machinery of RS. 2 lakhs to this unit. They are supplying cover to different hospitals and shops.

Remuneration support for Vocational trainer

School is giving training for many vocational training activities. But they are not able to provide the service regularly because of the remuneration of trainer. So we provide a remuneration support to render a full time training service to the students.

Raw materials for vocational training

We have provided a financial support to buy raw materials for their vocational training. They are giving training to making of paper pen, mats, flowers etc.

Band Set Training

They have a band set team in the school. But they are not getting any training for programs. So we have appointed a band set trainer to make a good band set team. We are paying Rs.5000 as salary to the trainer.

Cartoon Painting

We have done a cartoon painting in the walls and entrance of the school. It makes a good atmosphere for these students.

We have provided a financial support to buy raw materials for their vocational training. They are giving training to making of paper pen, mats, candles etc. They are making cotton waste in a very good manner.

Implementation of “Navadarshan” project helps the schools to provide a better service, make necessary changes and improve the lives of the students. It will help them to undertake various development projects in the society. Therapeutic support to the students helped them to make their movements, speech and activities in a better way. Regular therapy services have shown an important difference in the students. Different types of vocational trainings help the students to earn a small income with them. It helped them to engage in different activities and give support to their family with a small income. Infrastructure support to schools helps them to provide a better quality in education.
